The mighty Ozark trail, not just a tent, but with a gear loft, bear fly screen, leaky windows, this really is an M&S tent.

But, with a chance meeting with some locals a few days later, the boys managed to get on some of the whistler area classic runs, namely the Upper Cheakamus, Callaghan Creek and the Soo, all of which were fantastic, and must do's for anyone visiting the area.

After a few escapades, the rest of Team Ozark flew out, and a trip to Skookumchuck was on the cards, this is a really cool wave, and as if it couldn't get any better than being a cool surf wave, there was a period of about 2 hours at lunchtime where the wave greened out and there was nothing to do other than pro chill!!

Once all together, and pumping from the skook, a mixture of courage, determination, eagerness, as well as 100,000 tonnes of rockfall in the way drove the guys inland, and they did some more classic runs, the cilliwack was a good warm up, the Nataclatch, and the stein is one of the most beutiful settings in the world, as well as grade 4!!

Then, as if by magic, they stumbled upon one of the most presigious events in paddlesport history, the Clearwater kayak Fesival, where the team dominated the heats of the downriver race, but dominated the party on the sat night even more, with James and Si failing to see much of the next day. The clearwater is an good river, but the best thing about the Fesival is the people, brilliant, and you can buy T-shirts with extremely short, gay looking sleeves:

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; Jimmy arrived the following morning, joining Huw, Kev, Chris, Ian and Mark for the first spanking of the holiday. As we set off there was much rolling practice and whimpers, but all this was washed clean out of our systems once we'd flushed through the first grade 5 of the trip. Bujagali Falls.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iXTkffTMssU/Ruvw9q3y3LI/AAAAAAAAAfo/yCR3PPEQvPM/s320/DSC01774.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5110443144452955314" />

The rest of the run was similar in size, making us all feel pretty small and humbled, but at the same time the worst that seemed to happen would be a short dicking in a whirl pool or hole and then you were washing into a nice big flat pool:)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_iXTkffTMssU/Ruvw_K3y3MI/AAAAAAAAAfw/pqny6KRzwac/s320/DSC01829.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5110443170222759106" />

A run from NRE down to the bottom of Silverback was our prefered run for the remainder of the first week, allowing us to test the delights of the Boda Boda men. A big call I know, but with tea, coffee and more importantly beer on tap, and pretty much nothing to do till 5 in the evening it's pretty difficult no to pro chill. 5 is when Nile Special starts to run, and following a short paddle you are sat in the eddy of one of the worlds greatest play waves. Sitting in the eddy is no mean feat though, and getting on the wave with the tow rope is an art form.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iXTkffTMssU/Ruv2Ta3y3TI/AAAAAAAAAgo/JJhXXsrwb3Y/s320/DSC02179.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5110449015673249074" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_iXTkffTMssU/Ruv2T63y3UI/AAAAAAAAAgw/KUGD0-9cfJE/s320/DSC02394.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5110449024263183682" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_iXTkffTMssU/Ruv2UK3y3VI/AAAAAAAAAg4/J9zgKpGYDGA/s320/DSC02349.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5110449028558150994" />

Apart from some world class freestyle moves, a near death experience (made near by Huw, cheers Huw) and a lovely time there is very little else to say about the Hairly lemon and nile special, so I shall move on.

A few of us then tripped up to the Red Chilli campsite in Northern Uganda for some safari fun. We saw many many birds, a few giraffes, a couple of elephants and that was about all. Oh actually I forgot the hippo, which wandered past our tent at night so I guess that counts as well.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_iXTkffTMssU/Ruv5s63y3ZI/AAAAAAAAAhY/awReBB5XdAg/s320/DSC02625.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5110452752294796690" />

We had a little time left so popped over to Murchison Falls to watch the whole of the nile squeeze its oversized self through a 7 meter gap and dissappear over a 45m drop, which I must say, as someone who isn't a massive fan of views and stuff, is incredible.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_iXTkffTMssU/Ruv5tK3y3aI/AAAAAAAAAhg/muGKVB-ufQE/s320/DSC02673.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5110452756589764002" />

So all in all an amazing trip, everyone had an ace time even though we did come back a little more injured that we left. (obviously we were in Canada at the world Freestyle Championships)

North wales was the destination, and a fine grassy campsite the place. The first day saw some of a fifteen strong group heading up the mighty Snowdon. A 6 1/2 hour trek followed, taking us to the summit and back, via several ridgey things, and a dog who wanted everyones lunch. I'd like to add this may well be the longest walk I have ever been on:)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_iXTkffTMssU/RkND57hbrEI/AAAAAAAAAFM/XWFjTsENp4c/s320/N+Wales+may+day+2007+050.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5062965068604091458" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iXTkffTMssU/RkND6LhbrFI/AAAAAAAAAFU/DcHxNozRuYI/s320/N+Wales+may+day+2007+109.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5062965072899058770" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iXTkffTMssU/RkND6LhbrGI/AAAAAAAAAFc/Euinihtz8DI/s320/N+Wales+may+day+2007+115.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5062965072899058786" />
As sunday morning dawned we headed deeper into Wales to the mighty Tryweryn. A game of darts sits vividly in my memory, where a Mr Tom Potter cleaned up after five minutes and left the rest of us mere mortals floundering around trying to hit the board for the rest of the evening. The wave forms under a tunnel passing from the main sea into the inland sea. The wave starts off nice and small, ideal for beginners and then gently grows as the tide rises. REMEMBER TO ADD ON AN HOUR FOR BST, we didn't and almost went home as there was no wave on arrival. However through some kind of miracle, a huge herd of dehydrated cows had made the hike from East Anglia to drink off some of the water flooding into the Trent, and by Thursday afternoon levels were back to normal.

The Rodeo started on Saturday morning with the extreme slalom. There was a terrific amount of swimming during this round, and the looping pool was being ripped up by unmanned boats. Unfortunately at the thought of running anything more demanding than a sunny afternoon at HPP, Extreme Swim Team members Chris, Huw and Mark, hid under their beds tightly clutching their security blankets and refused to come out. So, after being abandoned by his fellow team mates, in preference for a hot coco and a warm bath, Kevin Hickey, accompanied by members of the second best BUSA slalom team, set off on the perilous journey north…

Kev running the first drop

<a Washburn. NUCC tripped their way down to the formidable river with boats and bits in tow.

2005 saw Newcastle come a honourable 2nd to Loughborough by only a couple of points. Thus this year it was important we made it clear that we didn't do any training, and weren't very good at down river racing.

And we almost managed, being disqualified on Sunday night, for some very long winded reason involving bears stealing Birminghams tent and small squirrels taking the laptops to sell for new Nike Air trainers, the ones with little air bubbles, and elastic laces cause squirrels, on the whole struggle with bows??

However by Monday morning, after most of Birmingham had spent the evening in the woods tracking the pesky squirrels, and found the laptops, we were reinstated! NUCC swam in just infront of 3rd placed Durham, and trailing Loughborough who were Champions second year running.

Well done, not bad for beginners.

The Land of Robin Hood

I'm not going to write much about this incredible trip cause my spelling is crap and i'm getting abused for it...

Newark weir

Newark entertainment didn't last very long, it was a bit shallow and full of cool people so we were off to the pub after a couple of hours.

A fine night out in Sheffield followed, we went to the union and Huw did some good busking, and I think pulled in a fine haul of cash.

Looping Pool, HPP

Sunday morning dawned, and we headed off to HPP, after a short session of man time when we fixed Thor (Huw's Volvo) who over night had broken himself. Much fun was had by all and much rejoycing after in the tea shop made for a splendid time, except my new crazy 88 ended the day with a split down the seam, gutted!!

It was hard to come up with anything to top all the crazy moves that we'd pulled on the river, and it was hard to dissuade Jo from McDonalds, but eventually we managed to get her to play golf down the beach, an armed with a club each and a few balls a display of golfing masterous followed, with Kev sinking a few hole in ones, and Jo getting it off the ground a couple of times!! (look how long this sentance is)

Sunday dawned and surf was up, apparently, so to Hell's mouth we journeyed. We had a loverly time... thats it.

In the afternoon however, we went paintballing. It cost a fortune, but it was cool as fook. Jo with all her army training was invincible, Kev and Huw spent all their time shooting me in the face, and i ended with a nice egg on my chin.

So for a quite weekend in Wales we got quite alot done. Thanking Kev's Aunt and Uncle who were ace, letting us all crash in the house and even getting an awesome fryup.
